How to Create an Excel Workbook from a Text Prompt

New file from a prompt. In the Microsoft Copilot app, open the Excel agent under Agents or Tools, describe the workbook, answer clarifying questions, preview, then save. Microsoft’s support page says generated files go to OneDrive, and you should review them before sharing. The same page states these agents are for Microsoft 365 users with a Copilot license. If you do not see the agent, you do not have this path.

Already in Excel. Copilot in Excel sits on the open workbook. It can add formulas, tables, and charts to that file. That is the right tool when the spreadsheet already exists and you want edits in place.

Neither of those is a Sorcim product. Use them when you already pay for Copilot and want the file inside Microsoft 365.

Before you send the file to a client or a payroll run:

• Open every sheet. Confirm names match the job you asked for.
• Click a few formula cells. You should see real Excel formulas, not pasted numbers that only look calculated.
• Add a test row. Table totals should move. If they do not, the range is static.
