However, there can be other reasons as well, like one or more peripheral devices interfere with the functioning of the mouse, or the video card driver and power management settings are not properly configured. There is an easy way to optimize Mouse performance in Windows 10. It is to clean and optimize the entire operating system using the holistic software, ST Cleaner.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<h2>Set Optimum Mouse Configs<\/h2>\n<p>Display pointer trails, smart move and game acceleration features can cause severe mouse lags. Disable these features and set the default pointers settings. Also, make sure that the vertical and horizontal scrolling are set not too high.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the <b>Start <\/b>button on the <b>Taskbar<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <b>Settings<\/b> icon.<\/li>\n<li>Type <b>Mouse <\/b>in the <b>Search Box<\/b> located on the top-right corner of the newly open window.<\/li>\n<li>Open <b>Mouse and Touchpad Settings <\/b>from the <b>Search Results<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <b>Additional Mouse Options <\/b>under the <strong>Related Settings<\/strong> category.<\/li>\n<li>A new dialog named <b>Mouse Properties<\/b> will open on your screen.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <b>Buttons <\/b>tab and select your pointing device from the <b>Devices <\/b>drop-down box.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the <b>Double Clicks Speed <\/b>is set to <b>7<\/b>. (Use the slider)<\/li>\n<li>Click <b>Apply<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <b>Pointers <\/b>tab, select <b>None <\/b>option from the <b>Scheme <\/b>drop-down box.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <b>Use Default <\/b>button to set default pointer settings.<\/li>\n<li>Click <b>Apply<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <b>Pointer Options <\/b>tab.<\/li>\n<li>Move the pointer speed slider under the <strong>Motion<\/strong> category to the <b>6<\/b>th point.<\/li>\n<li>Uncheck the boxes labeled as <b>Display pointer trails<\/b>, <b>Smart move <\/b>and <b>Acceleration in games<\/b>. (Some users may find that the last 2 features are unavailable on their machines.)<\/li>\n<li>Click <b>Apply<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <b>Wheel <\/b>tab.<\/li>\n<li>Under the <b>Vertical scrolling <\/b>category, select <b>The following number of lines at a time<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Set both the <b>Vertical Scrolling <\/b>and <b>Horizontal Scrolling <\/b>values to <b>3<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Click <b>Apply<\/b> | <b>OK<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Reinstall Mouse Drivers<\/h2>\n<p>A <strong>Mouse Driver<\/strong> facilitates smooth communication between your computer and the mouse &amp; pointing device. The mouse driver , might be outdated and hence it should be updated at the earliest. Search for an updated version online.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press <b>Windows Key <\/b>+ <b>X<\/b>, select <b>Device Manager<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>In the left corner of the newly open screen, expand the top node.<\/li>\n<li>Expand <b>Mice and Other Pointing Devices<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the <b>HID-compliant Mouse <\/b>and select <b>Uninstall <\/b>option.<\/li>\n<li>Once the uninstall is completed, restart your computer.<\/li>\n<li>Open the <b>Device Manager <\/b>again. (Refer to steps # 1-2 above)<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the top node, select <b>Scan for hardware changes<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Your Mouse will be recognised and reinstalled.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>Note:<\/b><\/span><\/em> If you\u2019re using a <b>Non-Plug &amp; Play Mouse<\/b>, please visit the manufacturer\u2019s website or the <b>CD ROM<\/b> that came with the product box for the driver\u2019s setup.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Set Optimum ATI Graphics Settings<\/h2>\n<p>If you have <b>AMD Radeon<\/b>, <b>AMD FireGL<\/b> or any other <b>AMD<\/b> display card installed, you might want to stop the <b>ATI Hotkey Poller<\/b> service which is known for consuming higher system resources and mouse lagging.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Type <b>Services.msc <\/b>in the <b>Search <\/b>Box on the <b>Taskbar<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Open the <b>Services <\/b>tool from the <b>Search Results<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Locate the <b>ATI HotKey Poller<\/b> service.<\/li>\n<li>Once you find that particular service, right-click it and select <b>Properties \u00a0<\/b>from the context menu.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <b>General <\/b>tab and make sure that the service is stopped from loading at the boot interval. To do so, set the <b>Startup Option <\/b>to <b>Disabled<\/b>, and then click <b>Apply <\/b>| <b>OK<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Close the <b>Services<\/b> window.<\/li>\n<li>Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Avoid Physical Interferences<\/h2>\n<p>If you are using a peripheral device, such as a digital photo camera, external hard disk, USB stick or external speaker, please disconnect it. These peripheral devices are known for causing interference between the mouse and the computer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Change Power Management Settings<\/h2>\n<p>Your computer may be configured to switch to the <b>USB Root Hub<\/b>, a feature that automatically switches off a device for consuming less power.
