Windows 8 Error 1061

Error 1061 appears in numerous programs. The error description is given below:

Error 1061 : Service cannot accept control messages at this time

Configure the Services

Stop and restart the following services:

1. Press Windows Key + X.
2. Select Search option.
3. Type “services.msc” in the Search Box.
4. Open the Services program from the Search Results page.
5. Stop and restart the following services. Right-click a service, select Properties from the context menu. Click the Stop button. Click Apply | OK. Wait a minute or two, and then open the same Services Properties dialog again. Click Start button in the General tab, and then Apply | OK. Follow this procedure for all the following services:
   • Application Layer Gateway Service
   • Network Connections
   • Network Location Awareness
   • Plug and Play
   • Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
   • Remote Access Connection Manager
   • Remote Procedure Call
   • Telephony
6. Exit the program.

Remove the AccountRight Library Service

AccountRight Library Service files may have been corrupted. Open the Command Prompt as administrator to remove that service files.

1. Press Windows Key + X.
2. Select “Command Prompt (Admin)”.
3. Provide administrative permission by clicking the Yes button.
4. Type the following command:
   sc delete “MYOB AccountRight Library”
5. Press ENTER key on your keyboard.

 

Remove AccountRight LibraryRoot Registry Entries

Delete the Registry entries associated with the AccountRight LibraryRoot. The same will be re-created again.

1. Press the Windows Key.
2. Type “RegEdit” in the Search Box.
3. Click the Apps icon.
4. Open that from the Search Results page.
5. Locate the following page:
   • For 32 bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MYOB\HuxleyServer
   • For 64 bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MYOB\HuxleyServer
6. Right-click the HuxleyServeer key, select New | String value.
7. Specify a new name “LibraryRoot”.
8. Double click the new string you just created. Type the following location:
   C:\Users\Public\Documents\MYOB\My AccountRight Files
9. Click OK button.
10. Exit Registry Editor window.

Note: If you have moved the above folder to another location, specify the appropriate directory in the Registry.

 

Run  Skype Setup as Administrator

If you’re encountering an error while running the Skype setup, please exit the setup and restart it as administrator.

1. Download a fresh Skype setup online:http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full
2. Right-click the downloaded setup file, select Run as administrator.

 

Turn Off the User Account Control

It appears that there is a possible conflict with the User Account Control (UAC) feature. This will fix Windows 8 error 1061.

1. Press the Windows Key.
2. Type “Change user account control settings” in the Search Box.
3. Click the Settings icon.
4. Open that from the Search Results.
5. The User Account Control Settings page will open.
6. Move the slider to the extreme down, i.e. Never notify.
7. Click the OK button.
