Force Stop and Restart Facebook App

Sometimes Facebook app becomes unresponsive. It is wise to stop and restart it again. You can do so from the Settings page.

  1. Unlock the smartphone.
  2. Tap Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings icon.
  4. Scroll down new page; tap Apps.
  5. Usually, you’ll find “Facebook” app under “Downloaded” category. Tap that icon. This category is displayed at bottom of the page.
  6. Tap “Force stop” button.
  7. A confirmation pop up will appear saying “If you force stop an app, it may misbehave”.
  8. Tap OK.
  9. Now Facebook app will stop. Re-start it again.

Uninstall Recent App Updates

Android prompts users to download and install new updates for OS and installed apps. You may have recently updated your apps including Facebook app. Facebook runs slow due to conflicts with newly installed app updates. Uninstall recent app updates and check whether the problem still persists.

Activate Application Monitor

Application Monitor is a notification service. When activated, it notifies the user about apps consuming extra power. We assume that Facebook app is consuming extra power and its bit heavy compared to other processes. Activate application monitor as follows:

  1. Refer to steps # 1-3 from “Force stop and restart Facebook app” section.
  2. Scroll down the new page; tap “Power” icon.
  3. In new screen tap Application Monitor.
  4. Turn on this feature. Move the small slider to “On” on the top right corner.

 

Turn Off Synchronizing Other Social Apps

Turn off all other apps synchronization so that Facebook synchronization will be much faster and quicker.

  1. Refer to steps # 1-3 from “Force stop and restart Facebook app” section.
  2. Scroll down; tap Account & Sync icon.
  3. As default Auto Sync will be turned on. There will be a couple of apps in “Manage accounts” category.
  4. Disable synchronizing all other apps except Facebook. To do so, tap an app name, tap the Menu icon in the top right corner and disable synchronization. Do not stop automatic synchronization for Facebook.

 

Determine Storage Info and Create More Space

Determine storage information and free-up your phone’s storage space.

  1. Refer to steps # 1-3 from “Force stop and restart Facebook app” section.
  2. Scroll down the page; tap Storage.
  3. App Storage, Phone Storage and SD Card Storage information will be displayed on your screen. Determine whether there is sufficient storage space. If not, tap “Make more space” in each of these segments. Follow the instructions on your phone screen. It loads a wizard-like system to guide you through the process.

 

Delete Space-Eating Files

Verify you’ve deleted all duplicate and unnecessary media files from your phone and SD card memory.

  1. Download a free app that lets you manage the files and folders. Go to Android PlayStore, search for “File Manager” and you’ll get a couple of free apps.
  2. Go to the root directory that contains a number of music files, videos, images, and other files.
  3. Delete the unnecessary items. To do so, check-up the boxes of all items you would like to permanently delete, and tap Delete icon on the toolbar. The process may vary depending on file manager app installed on your smartphone.
