Storing and managing photos can be a frantic task at times. Shutterfly is one of the few reliable photo storing services that allow users to easily organize their pictures. From sorting them into categories to filtering them when needed and from tagging your friends into their respective pictures to turning photos into unique photo frames, Shutterfly makes it all possible.
However, not many are a fan of storing their photos online. Are you also someone who tried Shutterfly but are done with it now? Or maybe you’re just concerned about online privacy? Well, in case you are looking for a way to back up all your photos and then delete your Shutterfly account, read through this article!
Backing Up Photos
Whether you intend to delete your Shutterfly account or not, having an up-to-date backup is always recommended.
Via My Photos
Shutterfly allows its users to download full-resolution images via their My Photos section. You could either download each image individually or else you could select up to 500 photos that will then be sent to your email account in the form of a link that leads to a zipped folder. It costs nothing and will only take a few minutes. Here’s how you could do so:
- Select the photos/ videos you want to save to your computer.
- Navigate towards the action bar towards the page’s top and hit the Download button.
- Depending on how many files you’ve selected, you will soon get an email containing a link from where you can download the zipped folder.
- Once you have downloaded the folder to your computer, you can view the files within it using any tool like WinZip. From here, files can be easily extracted and saved at your preferred location such as a USB device, any cloud service etc.
Via Mobile Apps
Although Shutterfly allows users to download files from the mobile app as well, unfortunately, there is no batch download solution available for now. This means that unfortunately, each and every file has to be downloaded individually.
Another important aspect to note is that when the images are downloaded via a mobile app, they will be of printing quality, but won’t be full-resolution. Downloading photos via the app is pretty simple.
For iPhone/ iPad
- Once you have opened the app, tap on any image to view it.
- Hit the Share button.
- Choose the Save Image option.
For Android
- After opening the app, tap on a photo that you wish to view.
- On the upper right corner, you’ll see three vertical dots. Tap on them.
- Choose the Download option.
Yup, it’s as simple as that.
Deleting the Shutterfly Account
There could be several reasons for you to wish to delete your Shutterfly account. Unfortunately, there is no automated way to deactivate your account yourself. In order to do so, follow this link.
You’ll have to contact Shutterfly’s customer support team and provide your billing address and previous order numbers (if applicable). They may ask you for a reason but generally, the process is quite smooth. You can contact them by:
- Sending an email at customerservice@cs.shutterfly.com via the registered email account.
- Starting a Live Chat with one of their representatives.
We hope this clears out all queries regarding backing up photos and deleting a Shutterfly account. Still have a question left? Let us know and we’ll try to guide you.
