Change Microsoft Exchange POP3 Configurations

You may have to check-up settings related to the Microsoft Exchange POP3 configurations as shown under. 0x80042108 Error Message, Windows 8, Office 2007 will not encounter again.

For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  1. Press Windows Key + X.
  2. Click Run option.
  3. Enter “Services.msc” in the Open textbox, press ENTER.
  4. Scroll down the list box.
  5. Right-click “Microsoft Exchange POP3” service; select Properties from the context menu.
  6. Select “Automatic” option from the “Start-up” drop down box.
  7. Click the Start button there.
  8. Click the Apply | OK button.
  9. Exit the Services tool, restart your machine.
  10. Press Windows Key.
  11. Click Server Management.
  12. Expand To Do List node on the left-hand side panel.
  13. Click “Connect to the Internet” link on the right side panel.
  14. Configure Email and Internet Connection wizard will launch.
  15. Select “Enable Firewall” option, and then click the Next button.
  16. Click the Add button.
  17. Specify the following values:
    • Service Name: Microsoft Exchange POP3
    • Protocol: TCP
    • Port Box: 110
  18. Click the OK button.
  19. Click the Add button when the Services Configuration page appears.
  20. Specify the following values:
    • Service Name: Microsoft Exchange IMAP4
    • Protocol: TCP
    • Port: 143
  21. Click the OK button, and then Next.

For Earlier Versions of Windows:

  1. Click the Start button, select Run.
  2. Refer Steps # 3-10 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s paragraph.
  3. Click All Programs | Server Management.
  4. Refer Steps # 12-21 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s paragraph.

Check Internet Connectivity Problems

Your computer may have encountered 0x80042108 Error Message, Windows 8, Office 2007 because of Internet connectivity issues. Inactive connectivity issues cause this error message. Diagnose your Internet connection with the Diagnostic tool available in Windows. Reinstall Microsoft Outlook

The problem arises when your Microsoft Office Outlook files are corrupted. Uninstalling and reinstalling the same would fix your problem.

For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  1. Press Windows Key + X.
  2. Click Programs and Features.
  3. Right-click “Microsoft Office”, select Uninstall button.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions, restart when prompted to do so.
  5. Insert the Microsoft Office installation disc, follow the setup installation instructions. If you don’t have an installation disc, download it from Microsoft’s official website.

For Earlier Versions of Windows:

  1. Click the Start button, type “Uninstall a program” in the Search Box.
  2. Press ENTER.

Remove Outlook Profile

In some cases, Microsoft Office Outlook profile is also corrupt. Rest assured your Outlook data files (.txt) will not be deleted, moved or changed. For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  1. Press Windows Key + X.
  2. Click Control Panel.
  3. Press F3 to locate the Search Box on top righter corner.

  7. Choose a profile you would to delete.
  8. Click the Remove button.

Disable the Firewall and Norton Internet Security

Make sure that the Windows Firewall and Norton Internet Security are disabled. You may experience 0x80042108 Error Message, Windows 8, Office 2007 when these programs conflict with Windows or some other applications installed on your PC.

To disable Norton Internet Security, please right-click its system tray icon and disable the protection temporarily- till you restart the PC or for an hour or two.

For Windows 8.1/ 8:

  1. Press Windows Key + X.

  3. Type “Check Firewall status” in the Search Box.
  4. Click the Settings icon.
  5. Open that.
  6. Turn off your Firewall protection.

  4. Disable the Firewall security protection.
