Follow the steps given below to fix this problem:

  • Disable Loading MSXML3.dll
  • Delete Startup Entry from Registry
  • Reinstall Adobe Creative Suite
  • Fix DLL References & Errors
  • Run System File Checker

Disable Loading MSXML3.dll

To start with, disable loading MSXML3.dll file at every startup. This file is probably deleted, moved or renamed; but still the startup entry exists in the Registry.
System Configuration program displays a list of all startups and services. Disable this file from the Startup tab.

  • Click Start, type “MSCONFIG”.
  • Press ENTER.
  • System Configuration opens.
  • Click the Startup tab.
  • Disable an entry which File Path ends with “...\MSXML3.dll”
  • Click Apply | OK.
  • Reboot.

Delete Startup Entry from Registry

Windows Registry contains a list of all startup applications and services. Delete any string that executes MSXML3.dll file at the startup interval. Follow below guidelines to fix Error Code: 800C0005:

  • Click the Start button.
  • Type “REGEDIT” and press ENTER.
  • Registry Editor opens.
  • Locate following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | SOFTWARE | Microsoft | Windows | Current Version.
  • Double click “Run” key. Delete startup entry with “…\MSXML3.dll” as File Path.
  • Collapse all registry keys, and go to the following registry path:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER | SOFTWARE | Microsoft | Windows | Current Version.
  • Double click “Run” key. Delete startup entry with “…\MSXML3.dll” as File Path.

Reinstall Adobe Creative Suite

Adobe Creative Suite program files can be corrupted. This program uses MSXML3.dll file. It is located in the System32 directory. Failure to load this file causes msxml3.dll Error. Reinstall the program to fix this problem.

  • Click the Start button.
  • Click Control Panel | Programs | Uninstall a Program.
  • Select “Adobe Creative Suite”, click the “Uninstall” button.
  • Follow the wizard and reboot.
  • Download a fresh setup online. Double click the downloaded file.
  • If it was an offline installer, it directly starts the installation. Else download and install process starts.

Fix DLL References & Errors

DLL References are located in the Windows Registry. DLL file paths and names are stored there. Invalid DLL paths cause Error 800C0005.

  • Download RegInOut System Utilities.
  • Install and run the program.
  • Under Registry Repair section click the “Start” button.
  • Registry scan starts.
  • Repair all errors detected.

Run System File Checker

System File Checker lets you scan and restore corrupted system files. You need to insert Windows installation disc first.

  • Insert Windows installation disc. Click the Start button, point to All Programs | Accessories. Right click “Command Prompt” and select “Run as Administrator”.
  • Type “SFC /SCANNOW” in the Command Prompt window. Press ENTER. The scan starts. When it finishes, please reboot your PC. This will repair msxml3.dll / msxml3.dll Error Code: 800C0005.
