Upgrade your System Specifications

The first thing you have to do is make sure your system is capable to run the game.   • In Sound dialog click the Communications tab.
  • Select "Do nothing" option under "When Windows detects communications activity" category.
  • Click OK and close Control Panel.

Disable Conflicting Application Software

Dead Space 3 errors appear when a conflicting software runs in background. In simple words, a common shared DLL file is being used by your game and some another program. Both trying to retrieve data from this file and alter it. This of courses results in runtime errors and the game may crash instantly.

What you have to do is fire up System Configuration tool, disable all background applications and restart the machine.

  • Type "%LocalAppData%" in the Open box and press ENTER.

  • Double click the file named "system.txt"
  • Click Edit | Find, type "Window.FOVScale" and click Find Next.
  • You’ll see string value something like "1.00000000". You just have to increment "1" and replace it with a higher number, say "5". Do not make changes to the decimal point and zeros.
  • Click File | Save and exit Notepad.

Enable Updating to Beta Version

Latest updates contain performance improvements. Change the game settings in such a way that your computer will update DS3 to latest beta version, if available.   • Double click Origin Client.
  • Click Application Settings | General tab.

Change Process Affinity

There is another interesting tweak to prevent Dead Space 3 freezes. Follow the steps given below:

  • Open the game. Press Alt + Tab to minimize the game temporarily.
  • Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to open Task Manager.
  • Click the Details tab.
  • Right click the game executable file, select "Set Affinity".
  • Only check-up the following boxes. Disable any other checkboxes in the dialog box.

  • Click OK and exit Task Manager.

Change NVidia Control Panel Settings

  • Exit the game if it is already running.
  • Open the Start Screen by pressing Windows Key.
  • Click NVidia Control Panel.
  • Under "Select a task" category click Open 3D Settings | Manage 3D Settings | Program Settings.
  • Under "Select a program" category click Add.
  • Locate the following executable file (.exe):
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Dead Space\Dead Space.exe
  • Under "Select preferred graphics" category, click on High-Performance NVidia Processor and apply the newly changed settings.
  • Close the dialog box and restart your system for the changes to take effects.
