It is important that you carry out these steps in order to fix the problem effectively:

Disable Hardware Acceleration

You may experience Facebook freezing in PC when hardware acceleration feature is enabled. This feature should be enabled only if your computer supports it. Disable this feature and check whether the problem still persists.

For Windows 8.1/ Windows 8 and Earlier Versions:

  • Open Mozilla Firefox.
  • Click the Firefox button on left.
  • Select “Options” from the menu items.
  • Options dialog will open with default “General” tab.
  • Uncheck “Use hardware acceleration when available” checkbox under “Browsing” category.
  • Click OK and re-open the browser.

Run Internet Explorer without Loading Add-Ons

Disable loading all add-ons/extensions. These extensions often take more time to load and your can experience Facebook freezes.

For Windows 8.1/ Windows 8 and Earlier Versions:

  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Press Alt key to show the menu bar.
  • Click Tools, and then “Manage add-ons”.

  • Click Wrench icon.
  • Select Tools | Extensions.
  • Disable all extensions.
  • Open a new tab, type “about:plugins” in the Address Bar.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Disable all plug-ins.

Reset Internet Explorer Settings

Some of your Internet settings can be incompatible. Simply reset them to their defaults.

For Windows 8.1/ Windows 8 and Earlier Versions:

  • Move your cursor to extreme left side of the Taskbar.
  • Right click the Start Screen thumbnail.
  • Select “Run”.
  • Type the following command-

  • Check-up the box labelled “Delete personal settings”.

  • Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog. Other steps remain the same.

Reset Google Chrome Settings

Google Chrome settings can be corrupt. Reset the default settings to revert wrong changes.

  • Click Wrench | Settings.
  • Scroll down the page.
  • Click “Show advanced settings” link.
  • Scroll down to bottom again.
  • Click “Reset browser settings” button and confirm.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode

While opening Mozilla Firefox press and hold the Shift key. Otherwise, press Alt key, click the Help menu, select “Restart with Add-Ons Disabled”. This will run Mozilla Firefox in the safe mode.

Clear Firefox History

To avoid Facebook freezes in PC clear the temporary files and browser history. Here are the steps to do so:

  • Open Internet Options dialog as described in above “Reset Internet Explorer settings” paragraph.
  • Click the Security tab.
  • Click “Reset all zones to default level” button.
  • Click Apply.
  • Click the Privacy tab.
  • Click Advanced button.
  • Check-up the boxes labelled “Override automatic cookie handling” and “Always allow session cookies”.
  • Click OK | Apply.
  • Click the Content tab.
  • Under “Certificates” frame click “Clear SSL State” button.
  • Click Advanced tab.
  • Use the checkboxes named “Use SSL 3.0” and “Use SSL 2.0” respectively.
  • Click Apply | OK.

Reset Cliptcher

Last but not the least; reset Cliptcher by running the command given here:

For Windows 8.1/ Windows 8:

  • Move your cursor to the left side of the Taskbar.
  • Select “Command Prompt (Admin)”
  • Type below command and press ENTER:
    regsvr32 softpub.dll wintrust.dll initpki.dll
  • Reboot.

For Earlier Versions:

  • Click Start, type “Command Prompt”.
  • Right click it in the search results, select “Run as administrator”.
