Change your DNS Settings

Go to the Network Locations and change your DNS Settings as I have shown below:

  • Click Start | Control Panel.
  • Click Network and Internet | View Network Status and Tasks.
  • Click a connection under Connections tab.
  • Click Properties in the new dialog.
  • Click Networking tab, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/ IPv4) and click Properties.
  • Under Preferred DNS Server type 208.67.222.222
  • Under Alternate DNS Server type 208.67.222.220
  • Make sure other fields are entered.
  • Click OK twice.

Disable Virtual Wi-Fi Mini Port

Fix error 105 DNS by disabling the Virtual Wi-Fi Mini Port. The required steps are given below:

  • Click Start, point to All Programs | Accessories.
  • Right click Command Prompt, select Run as Administrator.
  • Type the following command-
    Netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
    Netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow
  • Click Start | Control Panel.
  • Click Network and Internet | Network and Sharing Center.
  • Now right click Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi Miniport and select Disable option.

Run Registry Scan

Registry scan is vital. Your registry is likely to be congested. Junk entries, invalid data is the main reason behind error 105 DNS problem. Run registry scan and repair all errors detected, remove junk entries so that the problem will be fixed.

  • Download RegInOut Registry Scanner.
  • Start full scan. Repair all errors.

Execute Flush DNS Command

Execute the Flush DNS command with Command Prompt in order to resolve error 105 DNS. Do the steps given below:

  • Click Start, point to All Programs | Accessories.
  • Right click Command Prompt.
  • Select Run as Administrator.
  • Type following command and press ENTER:
    ipconfig /flushdns

Reset Winsock and Internet Protocol Entries

With Command Prompt reset Winsock and Internet Protocol entries. Follow these steps:

  • Open Command Prompt again.
  • Type following command:
    Netsh winsock reset catalog
    Netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
    Netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
    Exit
