Easier Fix for Error 797 in Your Windows System

1 Change Registry Configurations

An HTTP header is created in case of log-in request by large domains consisting of many groups. The default size limit may be exceeded. Modif Registry and increase the header length limits.


App Restore Default

1.1 For Windows 8.1/ 8

  • Press Windows Key + X.
  • Select Search option.
  • Type “RegEdit” in the Search Box.
  • Click the Apps icon and open that from the Search Results.
  • Open the following subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters
  • Right click the “Parameters” subkey, select New | DWORD Value.
  • Specify the String Name as “MaxFieldLength”
  • Double click the newly created string.
  • Set Base Option: Decimal
  • Specify “32768” as its value.
  • Click OK button.
  • Right click “Parameters” subkey, select New | DWORD Value.
  • Specify the String Name as “MaxRequestBytes”
  • Double click the new string, set its Base Option: Decimal.
  • Specify the “32768” as its value.
  • Click OK button.
  • Exit Registry Editor and then restart your computer.

1.2 For Windows 7/ Vista

  • Click the Start button on your Taskbar.
  • Click All Programs | Accessories | Run.
  • Type “RegEdit” in the Open textbox, press ENTER.
  • Refer Steps # 5-17 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.

2 Restart the Laserfiche Server Service

The Laserfiche Server service is listed in the Services tool. Stop the service and restart it again.


App Command Prompt

2.1 For Windows 8.1/ 8

  • Press Windows Key + X.
  • Select “Command Prompt (Admin)” option.
  • Enter the following commands in the given sequence:
    Net stop http
    Net start http
    Exit

2.2 For Windows 7/ Vista

  • Click the Start button, point to All Programs | Accessories.
  • Right click Command Prompt, select Run as administrator.
  • Refer Step # 3 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.

3 Uninstall Conflicting Updates

Some of the Windows Updates might have caused error 797. Open the list of all installed updates and then uninstall the specified updates.


Install Update Windows

3.1 For Windows 8.1/ 8

  • Press Windows Key + X.
  • Select Programs and Features.
  • Click “View installed updates” link in the left panel.
  • Press F3 key of your keyboard.
  • In the Search Box located at the top right corner, type the following two updates one by one and uninstall them. To uninstall an update, right click the update and select Uninstall option.

  • Restart your computer after finishing the task.

3.2 For Windows 7/ Vista

  • Click the Start button.
  • Type “View installed updates” in the Search Box and press ENTER.
  • Refer Steps # 4-6 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.

4 Configure Phone & Modem Settings

The Phone and Modem settings may be incorrect. Enter valid values in the dialog box.


All Control Panel Name

4.1 For Windows 8.1/ 8

  • Press Windows Key + X.
  • Select Control Panel.
  • Type the following in the Control Panel Address Bar:
    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items
  • Click the Phone and Modem icon.
  • Specify the country name, area code, carrier code, number to access an outside line, dialing type (Tone or Pulse), and then click the OK button.

4.2 For Windows 7/ Vista

  • Click the Start button, select Control Panel.
  • Refer Steps # 3-5 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.

5 Reinstall the Data Card Drivers

If you’re using a USB Data Internet connection there is a possibility that the network device driver files are corrupted. Uninstall the driver, disconnect the device and then scan for hardware changes.


Device Manager

5.1 For Windows 8.1/ 8

  • Press Windows Key + X.
  • Select Device Manager.
  • Expand the top root node.
  • Expand the “Network Adapters” node.
  • Right click “HUAWEI Mobile Connect” device, select Uninstall option.
  • The device driver removal process will start. Please wait a while.
  • Disconnect your USB Data Internet device.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Refer Steps # 1-3.
  • Right click the top node, select “Scan for hardware changes”.

5.2 For Windows 7/ Vista

  • Click the Start button, type “Device Manager” in the Search Box.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Refer Steps # 3-8 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.
  • Repeat above Steps # 1-2.
  • Refer Step # 3 and then Step # 10 from Windows 8.1/ 8 user’s section.

6 Check the Signal Strength

Check the strength of the USB Data Card signals. Error 797 appears when the network signal strength is too weak to establish a network connection. Change your location and check if the problem persists. There may be network issues from the Internet Service Provider as well.
